Miriam Calzada is a photographer, environmental problem solver, motivator, creator and mother.

Her fine art photography is and her award-winning images are in numerous private collections in New York, Miami and her native Dominican Republic.

She feels strongly that Mother nature has directly influenced her basic understanding of life, and has allowed her to portray images of the planet’s beauty and power. Her images capture places and insightful moments not otherwise accessible to most; they are images that have a direct effect on the soul.

It is this connectedness with the earth and the natural world that has led to Miriam taking strong positions on securing the planet for future generations.

The Water Movement resulted from her documentation of Dominican Republic’s majestic rivers and the ecological crisis she witnessed incrementing with every visit. The damage she observed led her to this project where I will actively geo-reference and document these vital water sources so people can see with their own eyes the dire need that we have as a country to enforce existing conservation laws and educated our population on the need for different practices in our daily lives.

Using ultra-high definition digital photography, she skillfully captures nature’s
landscapes, waters, trees, and leaves just as dramatically as portraits of its human inhabitants.

We are glad to have her join The Going Blue Foundation as one of its international ambassadors.

Her work has been shown in fine art institutions and fairs such as Arco Madrid, Frauen Museum (Bonn), Santo Domingo Museum of Modern Art, Museum Recoleta (Buenos Aires), UNESCO Headquarters (Paris), and recently at the Panama City Contemporary Art Biennial
